Like a lot of other people, this pandemic has given me time to take care of things at home that I have been putting off. I’ve repainted my lanai, organized my studio, and I’m getting my paperwork under control. These are all things that I don’t especially enjoy and I put them off when I get busy. So after two solid weeks of taking care of business, I was anxious to get back to my studio and print a fish.
I’ve had this perfect little `paka in my freezer for a while now, so I decided to thaw it out and make some prints of this beauty as a reward for my hard work.
Lifeless on my studio table, the fish is a dull brown color. But when they are in the water, their coloring is a beautiful silvery gray-brown with a slight pinkish tint. That’s how they earned their common name “Pink Snapper”.
In my view, the Opakapaka is a classic fish. It has a nice plump body with beautiful scales, eyes that are not too small or too large, and a perfectly shaped tail. A fun day in the studio, which by the way, does double-duty as my kitchen.
