Description
Boldly colored Moorish idols are one of the most iconic coral reef fishes. Known in Hawaii as kihikihi, they may be seen alone or in pairs, occasionally forming large schools. Juveniles are more likely to school in small groups than adults. Adults mate for life.
Often harvested for the aquarium trade, they rarely survive in captivity for more than a couple of months. Therefore it is my opinion that the Moorish idol is best enjoyed in the ocean. This gyotaku was created from a replica.
Printed on acid-free mulberry paper using archival ink. This is an original one-of-a-kind impression. Signed in pencil and stamped with my red chop in the lower right corner. Comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
I support only sustainable, legal fishing practices and donate a portion of each sale to non-profit organizations working to maitain healthy reefs and native fish populations.
