Matt’s Octopus

Hunting Octopus — How lucky am I to live in a part of the world where I get to see octopus on a regular basis? They camouflage themselves extremely well and I find them difficult to spot in the water unless they are moving. However other local watermen are experts at it.

Provided to me by Matt, a local free diver and fisherman, this octopus weighed in at five pounds which is large for Hawaiian octopus and making it the largest octopus I’ve ever printed. I was able to get a handful of nice prints on a variety of papers before I washed the ink off of it and returned it to Matt to be enjoyed in a meal. I am so happy with how it turned out.
