Description
Seadragon a limited edition fine art print of the original gyotaku work of art featuring the Weedy Seadragon. Weedy Seadragons are a rare species and, like seahorses, the male carries eggs in their pouch. Their leaf-like appendages provide camouflage and protection.
Gyotaku, a traditional Japanese printing technique dating back to the 18th century, has been used to create this stunning and detailed representation of the Weedy Seadragon. The technique involves applying ink to the specimen, then hand-rubbing the imprint onto paper or cloth to create an accurate record of the subject. To ensure that this artwork honors and protects endangered Seadragons, a replica was used instead of a real one. This allows you to appreciate the beauty of these magnificent creatures while preserving their habitats and natural populations.
Each limited edition print is meticulously matched to the original and printed on heavyweight, textured, 100% cotton fine art paper using archival pigment-based ink for long-lasting beauty. The deckled edges of the paper provide a unique and sophisticated touch, and the print can be framed either behind a mat or “floated” above a backing to showcase the deckled edge.
“Seadragon” is a limited edition print, with only 200 prints available. Each print is signed, numbered, and stamped with my red chop, and comes with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
In addition to bringing the beauty of the Seadragon to your home, your purchase of this limited edition print supports the protection and preservation of Seadragons. A portion of the proceeds from each sale is donated to non-profit organizations working to restore and maintain healthy marine ecosystems.
