Description
This is an original, one-of-a-kind gyotaku of a Leafy Seadragon (Phycodurus eques), created using the traditional method of gyotaku with ink and washi paper.
Leafy Seadragons are a rare and exotic species that are only found in the southern coast of Australia. They are known for their elaborate, leaf-like appendages that provide camouflage and protection. Like their Weedy Seadragon relatives, the male Leafy Seadragon carries eggs in a specialized area on their tail.
To honor and protect these magnificent creatures, a replica was used instead of a real one in creating this artwork. This ensures that the beauty of the Leafy Seadragon can be appreciated without endangering their natural populations or habitats.
The paper measures 11 inches x 14 inches and features a deckled edge. The artwork is signed, numbered, and stamped with my red seal, and comes with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
