Description
I always see schools of little red fish with big eyes whenever I’m snorkeling in and around caves. These red cave dwellers are either soldierfish, squirrelfish or Hawaiian bigeyes.
A major clue to identifying them is the tail. Soldierfish and squirrelfish have forked tails, and the bigeyes have a solid fan shape. The Hawaiian name for soldierfish is `ū`ū, but locals almost always call them by their Japanese name, menpachi.
Printed on washi paper using non-toxic, plant-based ink. It is titled in the lower left corner `Ū `Ū (Myripristis kuntee) and signed in the lower right corner then stamped with my chop (seal). The paper measures 8 inches x 12 inches and has deckled (torn) edges. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
