Description
The mu (Monotaxis grandoculis) is the only member of the Sparide family in Hawaiian waters. Fairly common singly or in small groups over coral reefs in clear waters. It is an excellent food fish, once plentiful in Hawaiian markets, but it is now quite rare and commands a high price when available.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind, hand-rubbed impression on washi paper. Printed using the direct method of gyotaku using an archival printmaking ink. It is PH neutral (acid free). The paper measures 18 x 27 and has a soft deckle edge.
One of the main ways to protect your artwork from moisture, dust, and UV rays is to frame it under conservation glass or acrylic which has a coating that blocks the UV rays. A mat is optional, as long as the artwork is not in direct contact with the glass.
Titled in the lower left corner “Mu (Monotaxis grandoculis)”, signed in pencil, and stamped with my red seal in the lower right corner. Comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
