Description

Bonefish — called o’io in Hawaiian — are fast-swimming, strong silvery fish that are popular with anglers. Two species occur in Hawaii, one is endemic.

This is an original, one-of-a-kind gyotaku of a 9.5 pound Bonefish (Albula virgata), caught by local Maui, Jennai. Printed in the Chokusetsu-ho method of gyotaku onto washi paper using soy inks. The paper measures 16 inches x 35 inches and has a soft deckle edge. To smooth the paper, the finished piece was mounted to a backing paper (Xuan rice paper) using a traditional mounting method used for Japanese and Chinese scroll mounting. It is PH neutral (acid free).

Titled in the lower left and signed in pencil and stamped with my red seal in the lower right corner. It will arrive with a certificate of authenticity. Due to its size, it will be carefully rolled into a mailing tube for shipping.
