Description
Fairly common on sandy reefs from 25 to 300 feet, especially during summer months. Uku are excellent food fishes with pink flesh that has more flavor than any other deepwater snapper and is highly sought by fishermen. This non-native species was introduced from French Polynesia in the 1950’s by state fisheries managers.
This is an original rubbing, one-of-a-kind, hand-rubbed impression taken from the actual fish. Printed using the direct method of gyotaku, using soy-based ink and rubbed onto Xuan rice paper. The paper has a lovely soft, deckled edge allowing it to be “floated” in a frame, rather than mounted under a mat, if so desired.
Titled in the lower left corner and signed in pencil and then stamped with my red chop in the lower right corner. Includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
