Making art can feel trivial right now because my work doesn’t reflect the unprecedented, sad, and scary moment the world is in. But I like to think the world needs artists now more than ever and without art, this moment would be a lot harder.
And so I am carrying on, working alone in my studio every day practicing my craft (and trying to sell it). My practice helps me find solace and meaning in this period of uncertainty. For me, working every day has been centering when everything else feels so up in the air and I hope that my work brings joy to the people who buy it.
It’s a trying time for everybody and I can’t predict or even imagine right now what the future will look like, but I do know that we can’t give up. Let’s give to the world what we each have to share.
Be well my friends, and a hui hou (until we meet again).
